2CV ROAD TRIP STORIES | BREAKDOWN ON THE ROAD IN THE ARDENNES
We have another adventurous road trip story from one of our fans! This time from a group of friends who had planned their annual 2CV trip to the Vosges on 2 October. On the way, one of their '58 AZUs ran into problems in Bertogne, in the middle of the Belgian Ardennes. Read their story further:

"On 1 October, our annual 2CV trip to the Vosges was planned. Five friends were to set off with two ribbed hood AZUs and two AZ 18 HPs. However, on the way, in Bertogne, in the middle of the Belgian Ardennes, the '58 AZU developed problems. Although the shifter still worked and the clutch pedal felt fine, the AZU refused to drive. We suspected something was wrong with the clutch.

We quickly looked for a place to analyse the situation and found a nice patch of grass among the trees. After dismantling the gearbox cover and checking the clutch plate and clevis, it turned out that the problem was not easy to solve. We decided to pitch our tents first and make coffee on the 2CV campfire rim.

It started raining, so we also stretched a tarpaulin over the AZU. We took out the block to inspect it further, but there was no sign of it. Then we also took out the box and discovered that the left floating axle differential side was very loose and even appeared to be broken.

We decided to spend a day going up and down to Schiedam to get a used spare part. After reassembling everything, the next day we were finally able to continue our journey to the Musee de la 2CV in Trosfointaines!

Sincerely,

Marco, José, Arnold, Adriaan & Erwin."
