Replacing a gearshift guide rubber is a difficult
job. To make this easier, Burton has developed
this set, where a guide rubber can be replaced in
20 minutes. Use: Disassemble the
gearshift from the car. Saw the inwardly
formed edge off the side that you want to replace.
Remove the old guide rubber and mount the new
supplied rubber. Slide or tap the sleeve
slightly over the gear lever. Secure the
sleeve with a flat chisel between the markings on
the sleeve. The sleeve can also be glued. Fit
the gear lever again. This gearshift kit
contains a sleeve and guide rubber for one side of
the gear lever. This set can be used on the
original gear lever and the stainless steel 2CV,
Mehari and Burton levers. Before purchasing, check
that there are no deep scratches in the gear
lever. If this is the case, we recommend replacing
the complete gearshift.
